Wu Ya Jun’s Reflection on Topic 2: Open Learning – Sharing and Openness

Following the trend of open learning via online education in the current pandemic situation, we have discussed and decided to focus on two specific subjects related to openness and sharing, namely:

• If decided to open up your own courses, what levels of openness would be appropriate from you and your institution’s perspectives?
• How would you introduce the idea of openness to your students?

These points were investigated through a free mind map tool - Miro, where all group members provided their own entries on both potential benefits and concerns.

We have had an interesting and interactive collaborationduring the Miro mind mapping process. Malin, Jane, Antonio and Nina have shared numerous points regarding topic 2, the attached link is the supportive literature for reference.

It has been an enjoyable experience, discussing the task at hand with every group member. New to Miro, a digital tool for collaboration, it was a new experience for me during this course. Thankfully, Malin and Antonio took the initiative to lead the process. Through an hourly session, twice a week, we finished topic 2 in two weeksAlthough we had a lot on our plates, full with day-to-day teaching and research work, we still managed to complete the topic with great efficiency.

The topic is an open-ended one, and we had much freedom discussing different points of view. We collaborated well together using the Fish model to flesh out our recommendation. I am pleased to have experienced strong teamwork, to be part of the success.

have imagined the topic 2 like a light and elegant kiteflying extremely high in the blue sky, our thoughts of contribution points like the decoration of the huge kite’s body. Finally, our special Miro mind mapping outcome like many colourful balloons floating in the virtual multi-function room.

The ONL212 course is an eye-opening experience. Before, I never would have expected that brainstorming and collaboration could be so enjoyable. I am glad to have this chance to reflect on Topic 2, and be able to spend time with my special 007 team, led by Prof Per Sandén and Ms CharinaOng.

Topic 3 was released yesterdayand we still have some remaining topics to wrap up during the journey. Hopefully, I will find myself growing with my amazing 007 team to achieve our goals of digital competency.
